Today's Pattern Story (and Sale)

I have no idea whether Black Dress is looking at Blue Dress in disgust or thinly disguised longing. I think it could go either way, or possibly both.

Black Dress: What *is* it about her? I can't sleep, I can't eat, I show up deliberately wearing the same dress, just so she'll notice me ... [sigh] Which she never will.

Blue Dress: Look! I think I see them coming into the harbor! Get ready for Fleet Week, Amabel! I'm so glad we wore gloves.

TOTALLY could happen. Don't you think?

    I love the design, too.

    I think this austere dress is what was distributed to female prisoners when they were released out into the world again. (They sew them themselves, to learn a trade.)

    Blue, who was incarcerated on false charges, is looking for her family at the prison gate, and black is wondering if its worth the trouble of introducing her to Micco down at the pier, to work as a B-Girl.

    There's a commission to consider...

    I'm not crazy about the two buttons off to the side on this pattern. Three or four buttons would have mirrored the angled edge of the bodice opening, but two just looks like the seamstress was a bit off sewing the buttonholes in.
