I love it! I would wear it in 2010...but I cant spend $75 on a used pattern. But it sure would make me feel like.... an individualist!

Packrat

Uhh, sorry, Im not thrilled (and wouldnt have been in the 80s) with the armholes on that top. Now, the neckline is to kill for. Well, not quite, but almost!

In the back of my head, I can hear the theme music for Bonjour Jeans ads in the 80s. They had similarly attituded ladies in tight Bonjour Jeans with the phrase Bonjour.... action.... Bonjour... action ad nauseum.I get this is not a jeans related item, but the attitude is identitical.

I was creatively envisioning the expressionistic dance moves that went with the voice-over. On a bare stage, behind a sheet, so as to be totally individual.

Pattern Junkie

Ah, but Pink has NO EYES! That is so-o-o-o individual!

Serendipity Handmade

Now THIS is the 80s fashion that doesnt make me cringe when I hear the words 80s comeback.... I would have worn this is 1986 too.

Christy Sews

Had I seen this in the 80s, I definitely would have worn it (and taken a break from my o-ring bracelets and flashdance t-shirts -- and, if I forget, leg warmers). Id sew it now if it was in my budget right now. sigh.

Cookie

If it were a long column and maroon, I could see it today on Sela Ward. But that doesnt mean its really my style...

Nadine

Is practise British spelling? Who knew! Whats the non-British spelling? (And I totally love the dress.)

You mean all my 80s and 90s Miyake patterns are worth MONEY? It makes me sad that those square shapes dont really look that good on me. They look so cool on the models. The sewing details are all really neat, too.

J.

omg, i think i did wear this in 1986. i still have a drawer full of miyake patterns; i know ill never sew them again but just cant get rid of them (and this one is tame in comparison to most of the others.)

Vegan

The hem on that asymmetrical skirt doesnt seem asymmetrical enough. It seems that part of the difference is the way shes standing, with her left hip higher. So if she were to stand straighter, there would be even less of an asymmetry. But far be it from me to question Miyake . . .

Nathalie

Ah, the 80s pattern pose... Lots of standing on one leg in order to accentuate the reverse triangle look with the super boxy shoulders...

Theresa

I am so individual that I will not make or wear this. I know Issey Miyake is very beloved, but everything of his I have seen so far I think is very unflattering. Just my humble opinion. Funny story though -- I really enjoyed it.

Glamour Girl

Look, I must hold my head from the unbearable mental strain of my individualism!Erin, you are a riot!

I think black/grey/white is somewhat disturbed by the lack of facial features on pink.
