Although I live in cold, cold Canada I am currently making up this EXACT pattern for an upcoming trip to the warm south Pacific! Counting down the days to no socks and sun dresses! Yipee!

Evelyn

Erin, No kidding. Here in southern Maine this morning it was 14 degrees below zero! I long for the day when I can wear a sundress again....

It's even bitter chilly here in FLORIDA! OK, I'll never match your cold.. but lemme tell you, the 30s for us gals who wear flip flops all the time?! Cold tootsies are not fun!

Love the pockets on that dress. Heard on the radio that it was incredibly cold in Chicago this morning as I was taking my boys to school. I thanked my lucky stars that I am in CA and we are in the midst of an unusual warm spell. It will likely be in the mid-seventies today. I am thinking warm thoughts for all of you in those cold climates.Teresa

That one lady looks like she is getting ready to punch that other lady...Thanks so much for the post. I just thought I would say hello and introduce myself. I have been following your blog and enjoy your posts a great deal. Thank you so much.Libby

Tell me about it with the cold...of course this is the week that each of my precious Smartwool socks are giving up on me (irreparably holey).I was just fantasizing about sundresses the other day; horrible headlines always make me want to look at pretty dresses. Thanks for the beauty fix!

I have this pattern, too, but it's near zero degrees in St. Louis this morning, so I think I'll wait a few more months to make it. And my version will definitely have ric rac (or rick rack, if you prefer).

Glad you're back home, sorry it's Chicago, my son lives there (2nd winter) and he asked for a Maryland National Guard airlift and extraction. The dress pattern put me in a lush summer state of mind.

I am so happy I planned my work trip to Israel in January :)

Hi Libby! Welcome to Erin Land!

La BellaDonna

LOVE the sweetheart neckline, and REALLY love the fact that the straps are wide enough so that a BRA can be worn with this dress! I write this from my layers of silk thermals, my knit wool dress, my sheepskin bolero vest, my sheepskin coat, my sparkly wool scarf ...

It was -22 in central Maine this morning, to say nothing of the wind chill. My daycare cancelled because the kerosene in their outside tank had frozen overnight and consequently they had no heat. No THAT'S freakin' cold!

Here in Sydney we're in the hottest part of our summer right now, so dresses like this are perfect, especially on 40 degree celcius (105 degrees farenheit) days like we had this week! I dream of colder days on days like that, although maybe not Chicago-in-January cold!

moggy

And here in Melbourne, Australia we are wavering between 62 and 100 farenheit. Sunscreen, parasols and sweat, and having to wear something over your frock to keep the sun off. I prefer winter, but that might be because we never get down below 0 (or 32 for the non-metrics)...Love those straps!

Yeah, its really funny now. Im from Toronto, but currently live in Edmonton and it sounds like each side of the continent has switched with the other. Its very mild right now for Edmonton (+ 6 7 celcius) and brutally cold for Toronto (-18 celcius + a widespread blackout!).Thanks for the summer breeze this pattern blows through! Better weather days will come.......eventually.And thanks for the Sandritocat notice! Hope my stuff hasnt been stolen out of my cart already!

Raamatutuba

Im from Prnu [Estonia] - http://www.foreca.com/Estonia/Parnu Thanks for the your blog - very interesting and beautiful ;))

sewducky

These are cute, but why aren't there ever sleeves in really cute dresses? This is the bane of my existence!

kathleenCrowleyCostumeCouture

We Californians are so spoiled. I think its 68 degrees out and I have the heater on. But to be fair, Im underground on concrete. Still......Im sorry for your misery!Someone walked into my shop yesterday with a dress very similar to this!X

I am from Brazil and since last year I visite you site at least two times a week! I love almost every dress you show. =)

Oh, and it`s really hot here!

50sgal

This would be such a great 'housedress' for me to clean in and those pockets would be great to aid in that endeavor. I wish they would reissue this pattern.

I can picture my mother wearing that dress when I was a kid. Very stylish for the 50's.

Louise

My Mother made herself this sundress in the 50's out of a deep green broadcloth with beige tatted lace. Thanks for reminding me!Grammilou

oooops sorry about the cold,You asked, so I'll tell:My weekend out of town was in Ojai, a sweet Old California style sleepy town up a canyon from the ocean. Sun feels really hot when you sit outside at a cafe table, and you can feel the burn pretty quick, not unlike an aging wall furnace. I would want to add a bolero to wear over that sundress so my already fried shoulders and back of neck are covered. This ensemble could use a wide brimmed hat too, straw with handbag to match.
