Roller Skates + Pockets = Erin Wishes This Were Her Size

Cara sent me this link, saying she was sure my inbox was probably filled with links to this ROLLER SKATE THEMED dress already. Well, no! Where were you all? Did you take the week off from scouring eBay for dresses for me? Was the weather nice, or something? I'm terribly disappointed in you all, really I am.
Or maybe you didn't want me to post this because you all want this great dress for yourselves? THAT I understand. I'd be planning my snipe right now if this were my size. It's just too big for me, and not the "couple inches don't matter" too big, but "hide someone else in there with me" too big. Otherwise it WOULD BE MINE. It has skates on it! It has pockets! It's got pink trim!
Anyway, if it fits you (B42) and you were biding your time, I'm sorry. It ends in a couple days, so there's plenty of time for you to keep increasing your bid, right?
Check out the other stuff from the seller, Vintage Voodoo. Some cute things there ... not as cute as ROLLER SKATES, but then again, what is?
Look at the fabric close up:

So cute! If any of you find me roller skate fabric (not this one, which is irredeemably ugly) I guess I could make my own ... and forgive you for not sending me this link en masse. Maybe.

oh it would fit me...chocolate brown and pink...put can i justify buying it. Probably not. My air conditioner is broken, so I'll have to fix that instead...

I love how from far away it looks like just a random, geometric arrangement, but closeup you can tell what the lines and circles are. It's like stealth patterning!

Equilter has got "car hops on roller skates" print and an anime-ish roller derby print. Neither of which really scream Erin to me.
On the topic of roller skates, I'm going to be coming to Chicago in July, and would like to hit a roller rink while I am there. Any recommendations?

It would be perfect to wear to my roller speedskating husband's competitions. Unfortunately, I'd have to go in for augmentation to get it to fit. Too bad.

I haven't seen a print so cute since that one with the birds with bullhorns. Though there was a Japanese print I saw the other day with monkeys on it, that I almost had to get - good thing it was $14/yard, or I might have really embarassed myself.

Here's the car hop roller skate fabric mentioned earlier: http://cgi.ebay.com/2-Yards-Fabric-CARHOPS-ON-ROLLER-SKATES-ON-BLACK_W0QQitemZ150118741047QQihZ005QQcategoryZ71206QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
As well as this PJ appropriate flannel: http://cgi.ebay.com/1-33yd-Chanteclaire-Flannel-Fabric-Animals-Roller-Skate_W0QQitemZ160115124083QQihZ006QQcategoryZ48762QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
This, however, isn't too bad, and the price could certainly be worse: http://cgi.ebay.com/Roller-Blade-Skates-Cotton-Quilt-Fabric-FQ-277_W0QQitemZ230048641117QQihZ013QQcategoryZ71211QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem
Sorry for the link overload! Thanks, however, for a site I always enjoy. Have a marvelous day!

Oh, I love the rollerskate dress!
I intended to send you a link to a story from the Madison, Wisconsin paper about a girl who designed her friend's prom dress, but it's a freelanced article not a staff-written piece, and madison.com doesn't generally archive those. I wanted you to see it especially because Liz Miles, the aspiring designer in question, put pockets in the dress so her friend wouldn't have to carry a bag.
The story got quite a nice piece of real estate--front page of the lifestyle section, with a jump to page 6. And Liz, it turns out, is the daughter of a guy I work with.

There aren't actually any rinks in Chicago (at least not on the north side, I think there's one at 125/MLK). There's the ORBIT, in Palatine (big!) and there's one in Lombard that I go to every once in a while, when I can manage it. They have a good Monday night grownup skate.
