Here here, I can't WAIT for spring. I don't mind snow, and snuggling into something warm... BUT I much prefer the warmer weathers when I can wear sandals, and sun dresses, and lightweight cotton full skirts, and and and...

We have been fortunate up till now that most of our winter days have actually been spring-like. Many days I've been able to go out with just my sweatshirt jacket. Today is a different story with hats, gloves, coat, and ice scraper to the car. Those dresses are feminine! They show a woman's shape yet are discreet. I think I have got to try and loose this belly bulge of mine as these are my favorite kinds of dresses.

Loved the post....this is why I go to Jamaica every Feb...to defrost....I'd like to take these dresses with me but have to settle with the Duro I am finishing right now. And I added pockets!

Isabelle

Oooh.... Lovely dresses! I love midriffs like that.

Miz Shoes

LOVE the seersucker. That is seersucker isn't it, in the first picture? Yummmm.

The yellow is just great! I wish I could wear yellow without looking like death. And I have found, especially while having a cold, nothing beats pockets.

I looked at the slide show and I would wear just about any of those dresses. but what's up with the hair? Were the models late to the runway and had no time to at least run a comb through their hair? I wanted to see the back of their heads just to see if they had a big snarly rats nest there.Weather wise, I live in Austin Texas and we had snow today for the first time in 10 years!

Finally, fashions for real people. Come on, Spring!

Nancy, I live in So. Cal in a valley and we had snow last week! Crazy! I want my warm weather back and about 90% of those dresses. What a nice collection he did.

LONG LIVE POCKETS!

Sherry

I am so tired of cold weather. I too want a Spring calendar. I was surprised at how many of the dresses I liked. I usually don't like runway fashions. The hair also puzzled me.

I live north of Seattle and since Thanksgiving its either been snow or strong winds. I want spring so bad! We've had great weather here for the last 4-5 years and I'm spoiled. I am leaving in a couple weeks to visit friends in Phoenix area so hope its nice then. Love those dresses! Agree about the hair.

Oscar de la Renta is a genius. And what a name! Spring looks like it's an age away in this dreary corner of England. Sitting at my desk in my dreary office, I depend on the bright lights of your blog for my sunshine!http://www.vintagefilm.typepad.com

Love the dresses but hate the hair!! Been there, done that ...For Spring they need pretty straw sunhats to go with. K Q;-)

Beautiful dresses, let's hope the high street stores are "inspired" to do something similar.

Also loved that he showed flat shoes with some of the styles, it seems that everyone nowdays thinks that heels are the way to go! I love flat shoes.

Oh, it is -- I've made it, but only with the fuller skirt. It's probably worth hauling that pattern out again ...

Thoughts on Life and Millinery.

I was required to study fashion designers biographies and philosophies in college (getting a home ec.was a blast in the 70's)Oscar was my favorite designers because he designed FOR women, and view women as extraordinary beings of beauty and grace. The other designers designed to make a statement about themselves, and really viewed women as just a prop for the clothes. I won't even start on the guys who designed to make women look like young boys. Those designers generally were men who prefered young boys for their amorous activities. Yuck. After reading Calvin Klein's bio, I could never look at any of his designs anymore without feeling sick to my stomach. Eeek.Oscar is a gem.

I love these dresses! Where can one find fabric like that? Especially the yellow... it is fantastic!

"...Forget Advent calendars; I want one for Spring, where behind every door is a crocus, daffodil, or just a brief glimpse of warm sunshine and the smell of thawing earth ..."I think you may be on to something there!

I looked at the embellishment more closely and it looks like the "flowers" are appliqued with seam binding around the edge. It's a really effective use of the striped fabric!

MinaW

Yes a spring calendar! Great idea.
