Asking for Directions

Kat emailed me asking if anyone had the directions for this fabulous dress; she has the pattern, but no roadmap ... I told her I'd post and see! She's willing to pay for photocopying/postage/etc. This is definitely not one to attempt without the instructions! That draping, and the bow, and that tricky midriff point ...
Anyone? Think of yourself as a midwife helping to bring this beautiful baby into the world! And we'll make her send pics when it's complete!
Email me or leave a comment ...

Hi Erin,
I looked thru my inventory of Patterns and I do not have it. I will keep my eyes open for it.
It is stunning! Wish I had it. ;)

I just want to say thanks for the blog. I've been home for several months dealing with treatment for breast cancer and the one thing I've done each day is check Dress a Day for the latest pattern, general wit/smart aleck comments and fabric swatch. No matter how nauseated, distraught over baldness or just plain bad/mad I've felt the site has been a pleasure. I know, I know.....you didn't know you were bringing joy to the 'shut-in' crowd, but you have. Live with it!

Man that patern is gorgeous, and still wearable and relevant in today's style.

jane, thanks for slipping that in - I've been shut in myself for six weeks, lung stuff, on oxygen, medicine gives me insomnia, blah blah blah. A Dress A Day makes me SO HAPPY! It's as good as lunch with The Girls. Hang in there, sistah.

I was thinking the same thing, if I had the pattern pieces, I could figure it out.
Kat - Does this pattern have numbered notches? Some of the Vogue's do. If it does, find notch #1, it should be on the first seam you sew, notch #2 will be on the second seam, etc. Try to find all of them in order before you sew. Each notch will then have a mate on another pattern piece, numbered the same. So, both #1's go together and #2's, etc. Not sure if that will help, depends on the pattern.

Vogue Patterns should definitely bring this dress pattern back in their Retro collection. It's so beautiful.

If the instructions don't turn up, I'd suggest you do a 'trial run' out of cheap fabric and work out the construction methods which are best for this. Sometimes we can use nicer/finer professional construction methods instead of the usual pattern 'for the home dressmaker' instructions.
Jane, I wish with all my heart that you will be able to beat that disease. Stay positive.

Thanks for showing this on your blog! I am thrilled!
I have already cut the pattern out in muslin and I am going to give it a trial run in the next few weeks.
I was lucky to find fabric that is almost a match!

Dear Jane and WRD -- I can't tell you how touched and overwhelmed I were by your comments; I am just glad I can be even a little bit of a consolation!
I hope you both feel better soon!

I hope Jane and 'well rounded dresser' won't mind that I'm praying for them.
And if my butt wasn't so well rounded I might've been able to wear this pattern...
