I wonder if you could make those crisp details in a tweed. It would depend on the weight but I always think of tweedy fabric as quite substantial. I would be tempted to go for a middle weight slubbed silk like Dupioni.

Does that top dress have some kind of underarm gusset to allow for movement? Gussets are a nice way to intrduce some stress into your life. ;-)

I have that very dress in navy wool. I bought it in a vintage shop several years ago. It's fabulous. I call it my Della Street dress. Faux croc pointy pumps and bag, and I am one hot throwback to the fifties.

I really like the 1st pattern. Peg pockets at the hip line look so chic. I got a few dresses at a sale (along with the pattern the original owner used) in that style. Sometime I'll get around to showing them off on my blog.
