I admit it. This dress pushed all my buttons, right to the point where I pushed the "Buy It Now" button (from Stellablue Vintage Sewing). Collar? Check. Sleeves other than set-in? Check. Hip pockets? Insouciant hat on the pattern envelope? Check and check.
The kicker? Showing it in that green tweed. Do they even make nice green tweed anymore? I never see any. Which is a shame, because I have some buttons that would go really well with it ... might even have a matching belt buckle, too.
This below is one that I didn't buy, although -- see? the green? -- it was very tempting. I just know that I've reached my quota for a while on interesting neckline patterns. The sad truth is that a lot of them I'm just too lazy to sew ... but if you have a bit more gumption, go to it! It's only $7.50!

I wonder if you could make those crisp details in a tweed. It would depend on the weight but I always think of tweedy fabric as quite substantial. I would be tempted to go for a middle weight slubbed silk like Dupioni.

Does that top dress have some kind of underarm gusset to allow for movement? Gussets are a nice way to intrduce some stress into your life. ;-)

I have that very dress in navy wool. I bought it in a vintage shop several years ago. It's fabulous. I call it my Della Street dress. Faux croc pointy pumps and bag, and I am one hot throwback to the fifties.

I really like the 1st pattern. Peg pockets at the hip line look so chic. I got a few dresses at a sale (along with the pattern the original owner used) in that style. Sometime I'll get around to showing them off on my blog.

Insouciant hat on the pattern envelope? Get's me too. Makes me want to drag the vintage hats out of storage and wear them.
