I actually know someone named Bambi, but she's about 32-22-30. Teeeeny. Too tiny even for this!I love the design on this, though. Especially that hip drape. Total yum.--Lydia

Hi, my name is Joy -any suggestions that don't involve rainbows? Bad flash-back of 8th grade there.

Anonymous

Joy-happy faces, angels, smiling children, heck anything smiley! My first name translates to "Little Raven" (Brenna), and my odd-sounding Filipino last name translates to "Little Monkey". Hmm, that would be an interesting dress!

Helen

My middle name is joy but no ideas there i'm afraid... However, my initials (Helen Olivia Joy O'gorman) with some crunching become HOJOG ... HEDGEHOG!!!Anyone seen any hedgehog printed rayon out there.... I will be there with spikes on!!hxx

Rose

Roses for me, of course, and I avoid 'em like anything!

jenny

Jennifer is a form of Guinevere meaning "fair, white" or "smooth." (And speaking of my recently-liberated summer legs, they're definitely "white.")Fabric? White satin seems too obvious, but that's all I can think of. I can't be the eternal bride, for Pete's sake! My middle name is Lynn, so how about going with Jenny Lind, the "Swedish Nightingale," and bird-print fabrics. Now that's much more interesting!Joy, you could go with just about anything cheerful: yellow lawn, swiss dot, bright apple green, you name it! I'm still trying to recover from the rainbow-era myself.Helen, isn't this woman's hand-printed hedgehog fabric cute!

JuliaR

I got nothin'. Julia means "soft bearded" (yeesh) and Ann comes from Hannah which means "favour" or "grace". I'll have to go with dog prints, as I have a dog blog.

LNLisa

My name rhymes with VISA. I always thought that should be significant, so maybe for Lisa a dress of credit cards? :P

Leia

Anything Star Wars particularly anything with Princess Leia.

Becky O.

O.k., My given name would be follwed by ..of sunnybrook farm.Got it yet?Rebecca! But I'm not into farm prints. My favorite is an old Bestsy Johnson rock print. I still have it- in black with lime green rocks.

Katana Barnett

Hi I'm Katana. A dress of Japanese-swords would certainly be interesting. Maybe an array of samaurais or Uma Thurman of Kill Bill (where my name comes from) fighting the crazy 88's (ninjas with swords).

enc

An interesting use of fabrick for that cheongsam (sp?) type of dress. It's really well-executed and unexpected. Trs mignon.

Meredith

My name means "guardian from the sea," so perhaps a nice beach or water print.

erma

In real life, my name is Ju. Little Stars of David for me, I guess. Or maybe little Jon Stewarts, perhaps? The possibilities seem endless, though not necessarily that wearable.

Red

With a maiden (and married -- never changed it) name like Tweedy, I think you all can guess what kinds of prints have been coming to people's minds for me for low these past 35 years. Middle name Holley gives me the added bonus of Christmas themes... And due to my red hair, my husband dubbed me "Red," which has stuck, but I'm not of the ilk that red fabric works great on redheads. But I do love me some polka dots!

michelle

hey red, in australia we call redheads "blue" or "bluey". perhaps blue might suit you?

Figs

I *love* the style (so wish that I was anywhere *near* the figure for it). And I like the colors, that kind of golden-bronze-wheat-on-white. But the deer head creeps me out. It looks possessed.

Floridaprincess

I love the dress. My name is Judith is there a fabric out there for Judith??? I dont know how ya'll figured this out. Someone let me know please.

jenny

Okay Judith: according to most sources I looked at, your name means "praised." One site interpreted that as "admired." Soooo: your fabric is whatever looks best on you----whatever would lead others to "praise" or "admire" you!(P.S. That deer's eyes are really creepy. Like empty sockets...*Bleh.*)

Wanda

I love your site. And I love all the dress - vintage is definitely the way to go when you can find good ones in your size.

IA

The obvious dress for me would be a sari (my name is that of a country that begins with the letter I and is not Israel); therefore, I can never wear one. But when I was a wee tot, I had an orange dress with little round mirrors embroidered all over it. Something like that I could wear. Just not in orange. Also, since everyone always assumes my parents gave me this name because they were hippies (they were not), I avoid anything hippy-dippy. I hate-hate-hate these goddamn tiered peasant skirts that are all over the place, for example. Ugh!

Missie

My full name is Melissa, which means "honeybee", so I think you can figure bees. In a nice honey yellow/amber, I think it might even be flattering!

Floridaprincess

Thank you Jenny:+)

JuliaR

Bbrug - in "Gone with the Wind", Ashley Wilkes sister's name is the same as yours (I'm guessing). The book was writen in 1936, long before the time of hippies. I can't find out when people first started using this word as a girl's first name but I have always liked it. I would think there could be any number of motifs on fabric you could use to represent this richly diverse name.

IA

JuliaR - Yes, I know! That's what I always tell people, and they look at me like I'm crazy, because she's a very minor character in the movie. We have a photo of my grandmother (for whom I am named) with eight other girls at a tea party in the nineteen-oughts. According to the label on the back, three of the nine girls have my name, so it was perhaps the "Jennifer" of the 1890s.
