The Gray Lady Wears a Dress

Nice article in the NYT today about dresses. [Thanks to flea for the heads-up!]

The dark side of the dress is fit. No other article of clothing must simultaneously fit so many parts of the body - the bust, the waist, the hips - and also hit the leg at a slimming length.

Just because something is difficult, doesn't mean it can't be done ...

I would turn that on its head and say: The wonderful side of the dress is fit. No other article of clothing can simultaneously fit so many parts of the body.

In other words: What single article of clothing can do so much with so little?

Don't forget the all-in-one jumpsuit. No other garment must satisfy crotch depth, body length, and arms to fit. Impossible to mass-manufacture and sell! But this is a site about dresses, so I digress.
