I still wouldn't use the floral embroidery transfer. That's a bridge too far.

I have a vintage dress very similar with florl transfer on one side. I loves me some peplum, but have never sewn one.

I don't mind the peplum myself, but know what you mean; it's hard to pull off a full-on head-to-toe vintage look. Why not just omit the peplum? And although I also like the floral touch, you could just put in a keyhole slit at the neck to make it look a little more sleek.
